Our History

It was in 1918 that Robert J. Johnson set himself up as a customs clearance broker in Liverpool – his home port.

Over the years, the business he founded has grown. These days, we do much more than customs brokerage and we do it on a much bigger scale.

The name has changed to RJJ Freight and when shipping patterns changed, we moved our head office to Felixstowe 1990. But the fundamental of our business has remained the same.

We are still an independent and family-run company, with a strong focus on delivering outstanding quality and professional service to our customers.

From our head office in Felixstowe and branch offices near Tilbury and Britain’s busiest airports – London Heathrow and Manchester – we arrange thousands of shipments for hundreds of customers each year, by sea, air and land to and from hundreds of locations worldwide.

In 2012 we achieved full Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) status accredited by HMRC in the UK.  The AEO status underlines our commitment to provide a secure supply chain and confirms our customs controls and procedures are efficient and compliant with current regulations.

Over the years we’ve invested in the people we employ, encourage them to look beyond the obvious, think outside the box and find solutions that works better for our customers. We sum this up in our Customer in Focus attitude which drives our aim to deliver outstanding customer service and satisfaction.
